'I've gotta stop it, your son's gonna die' - Incredible corner footage shows gut-wrenching conversat

Gennady Golovkin was at the absolute peak of his powers when he took on Gabriel Rosado in 2013.

The legendary middleweight world champion was in his prime at age 30 and midway through a streak of 23 consecutive knockout wins.

Few boxers around the 160lbs division wanted to face Golovkin at this time, and understandably so.

GGG was one of the best boxers on the planet, but not yet massively well known and so not hugely lucrative to face.

Despite this, Gabriel Rosado stepped up and signed the contract.

The gatekeeping contender made a habit of doing this throughout his career as he took on a series of tough fights and top prospects right up until his retirement this year.

Rosado finished his career with a record of 26-17-1, but with plenty of respect afforded for his performances in those 17 defeats.

None more so than his loss to Golovkin, which saw him endure a brutal beating for seven rounds before his corner ended the fight.

HBO's remarkable corner footage showed the gut-wrenching conversation between Rosado's trainer Billy Briscoe and his father Chino Rosado as they came to this decision.

With GGG continuing his assault, Briscoe told Rosado Sr: "I've gotta stop it Chino, I've gotta stop it baby."

Rosado Sr initially remained stoic and replied: "No."

But Briscoe, clearly distressed at the sight of Rosado's bloody face, insisted: "Chino I've gotta stop it man, Chino I've gotta stop it, your son's gonna die man, he can't see the punches."

Rosado Sr then conceded: "Alright, alright."

At that point Rosado's trainer and a commission official both jumped up onto the ring apron to stop the fight and trainer threw the towel.
